ファウンデーションコースは大学0年生
ファウンデーションコースとは大学が提供する、A-level（イギリスの単位）やそれと同等の資格を取得していない学生向けに行われている約1年間の準備授業。
大学1年生へ入学する前の準備授業と捉えられます。
「大学0年生」とも呼ばれますが、この期間は実際に大学に在籍し、通学もしくは一部オンライン授業などを受けて学びます。多くの日本人は、日本の高校を卒業後ファウンデーションコースに入り、より専門的な英語を学習し、大学1年生に備えます。
学生が自身で選択する方式ではなく、大学からファウンデーションコースへの入学が必要か、不必要か入学時に通達されます。
コースを終了後、大学1年生へ進学になり、その際、同じ大学の学士号コースへ進学する場合は一部試験などが免除になります。
